The Monday Show Low Down (or "It's Like Some Kind Of Monster... Dog")

It’s late at night, it’s taken hours to compile the research for today’s posting, and I worked all weekend doing video game design work, so I feel like some bedraggled lead character at the end of a Peckinpah film...

Anyway, I hope you have a relatively free schedule this week, because it’s pretty full as far as live music in LA goes.

Tonight, we’ve got The Pink Mountaintops at The Echo, Band of Horses at The Avalon, The Deadly Syndrome and Monsters Are Waiting at The Viper Room, Death To Anders! at The Silver Lake Lounge, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs at The Palladium.

On Tuesday, Band of Horses return to The Avalon, while on Wednesday, Billy Bragg plays The Henry Fonda and The Dears head to The Troubadour.

On Thursday night, the excellent local music site Rock Insider presents Indie Schmindie with Briertone, The Minor Canon, and Sparrow’s Gate at Little Pedro’s, while Jose Gonzalez plays The Vista Theatre, Jet lands at The Henry Fonda, Teddy’s Cheer Club and Lyra head upstairs at The Roxy for On The Rox (upstairs at The Roxy), Man Man plays Spaceland and Roger Waters performs The Dark Side of the Moon at The Hollywood Bowl.

On Friday, it’s Asobi Sesku and Darker My Love at The Echo, The Bird and The Bee (Inara George) at The Silver Lake Lounge, The Killers at The Wiltern, The Oohlas at Molly Malone’s, Adult at The Troubadour, and Magnolia Electric Co at The Knitting Factory.

On Saturday, it’s all about The Eagle Rock Music Festival. It not only has The Movies and Great Northern (two of the three fantastic bands who played our Let’s Independent! show last week), it also has Monsters Are Waiting, Bodies Of Water, Kind Hearts And Coronets, Teddy's Cheer Club, Future Pigeon, Jet Fuel, Jesca Hoop, The Parson Redheads, Eleni Mandell, and more. (For a look at the full schedule, go here.)

Also on Saturday, The Killers return for a second night at The Wiltern, Kite Flying Society play The Hotel Café, and Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Red Kross, Oh No! Oh My!, The Blood Arm, Of Montreal, The Like, and more perform at The LA Weekly Detour Music Festival.

And finally on Sunday, Califone head to Spaceland and The Album Leaf arrive at The Troubadour.

In related news (or something):

- Arthur Nights – which runs Thursday, Oct 19 to Sunday, Oct 22 w/Devendra Banhart, The Fiery Furnaces, and many more – has changed locations from The Echo to The Downtown Palace Theatre.

- For more pics from the last week’s Let’s Independent show at Boardner’s, go here. And head here for an early look and listen at the next show’s line-up.
