The Monday Show Low Down (Or "When I Was An Astronaut In World War II...")

Happy day-off day. Been spending the last few hours updating the show calendar while listening to Manhattan Murder Mystery and The Temporary Thing (who could likely not be more different) and it's been oddly meditative.

Been thinking lately about how much goddamn fun it's been to put on the Let's Independent! show each month at Boardner's for the last two years. It's pushed me to regularly look out for new bands to play the show and I'm really thankful for that because it's introduced me to so much great fucking music.

This month's event, for example, has three acts who I can't stop listening to lately. More on that show tomorrow... Here's what this week is looking like.

Monday, September 1
- Sean Carnage Presents Thirst Rockers, Alexis Gideon, Carcrashlander, & Kid Infinity @ Pehrspace
- Ice Cube @ The House of Blues

- CW Stoneking @ The Redwood Bar
- Pod Blotz, Debaser, tik///tik/ & Moment Trigger @ The Smell
- Dios Malos, miguel mendez, and Underground Railroad to Candyland @ Spaceland (FREE)

DECISION:
Never seen a full set by Dios Malos before, but I really like their recorded work. This is probably a good time to check them out, because Death to Anders has some pretty amazing line-ups coming to their Monday night residency at The Echo, which starts next week.

For Thursday the 4th I suggest seeing Alexis Gideon at the Smell. He does a 20-minute multimedia show with projected animation and rapping that's really, really fun. I saw him at Pehrspace on Monday and loved it.
