The Monday Show Lowdown (Or “We Put The Rock In The Slingshot Then Throw It All Away.”)

Between work deadlines and the complete nerd bomb wonder that is Halo 3, I’ve been missing a lot of shows and, well, everything? But motherfucking vikings should sing songs about some of the matches I’ve played with friends online lately.

For seriously. Vikings...

Let’s take a look at the week in music here in LA w/ a few hastily-written recommendations.

Monday, October 1
- Oliver Future, Asher, & Salt & Samovar @ Spaceland (FREE)
- Castledoor @ The Echo (FREE)
- The Austin James Band, We Barbarians, Allegra Gellar, & Aushua @ The Silver Lake Lounge (FREE)

- Morrissey @ The Paladium
- Abe Lincoln Story & Swords of Fatima @ Mr T’s Bowl
- The Ignorant, Bobot Adrenaline, & The Boozehounds @ The Scene (FREE)
- The Black Angels @ The Troubadour

DECISION:
This month’s free Monday night residencies kick off tonight – and we get an extra show out of them since there are five Mondays in October.

I don’t know Oliver Future or Aushua overly well, but heart Castledoor live. No idea who they’re playing with though. Anyone know? The Black Angels are also good.

Tuesday, October 2

DECISION:
I’ve been writing about Division Day for a few years now and still can’t stop saying enough nice things about them. They’re great live and I literally like every single song on their album. DECISION:
Like I mentioned in last weekend’s post, The Eagle Rock Music Fest is well worth catching. It’s got The Monolators, Princeton, The Pity Party, and a bunch of bands you’ve been meaning to see for, like, forever now. And it's FREE.

DECISION:
This Sunday night, a bunch of local bands are putting on a benefit show at Safari Sam’s for a little girl who has been diagnosed with cancer. It’s a good cause and they’re great bands and, in short, you should go. Among those playing are I Make This Sound, The Hectors, The Monolators, and more.

That’s it. Did I miss anything? Please lemme know.
