The Monday Show Low Down (Or “And Like A Good Haircut, You Never Stick Around…”)

You ever have one of those weekends where you go to shows every night and you kind of feel bad about it a little, but at the same time, it’s pretty great? Yeah…

Remember how it was so crowded when Band of Horses played at The Echo that you thought about leaving because you were starting to feel claustrophobic but you were crammed in so fire-hazardey tightly that you knew there was no possible way you could leave?

(It was almost that packed on Saturday night for The Deadly Syndrome’s CD release event – but probably more fun.)

Sometimes it gets so that you almost don't notice that familiar tickle of beads of sweat trickling down the back of your spine. Sometimes you start to think seriously about getting ear plugs professionally made like your drummer friends have.

Sometimes you wonder if you’re going to too many shows…

But then you realize that just so they're all good, that's probably not possible.

Anyway, here’s some of this week’s highlights:

Monday, September 10
- The Happy Hollows, Western States Motel, Tigers Can Bite You, & The Transmissions @ The Echo (FREE)
- Gram Rabbit & Donita Sparks @ Spaceland (FREE)

- Lucinda Williams @ The El Rey
- Black Olive, Brandon Mayer, Bryony Atkinson, & Michael Miller @ Bordello

The Airborne Toxic Event at The Viper Room is the best thing going on the west side on Monday night, while the free line-up of The Happy Hollows, The Western States Motel, Tigers Can Bite You, and The Transmissions at The Echo rules the east.

Re: Friday- Anders Parker at the Hotel Cafe. He used to sing for Varnaline. It's an early show though, I think he's on around 7:30.
