Band of The Week: The Monolators
The Monolators, The Monolators, The Monolators… It seems like lately I keep writing about The Monolators.
That’s at least partially since they, like The Henry Clay People, believe in playing as much as possible, but it’s also because their upbeat, Buddy Holly-inflected pop rock is about as catchy as the day is long.
I was sorry to miss their recent EP release event at The Echo, which was put on by great sites Rock Insider and LA Underground. The video footage we posted yesterday of three bassists playing to their song We Fell Dead (Jax from Rock Insider among them) made it look like it was a great night, but we had our Let’s Independent! show that same evening.
But it looks like there are multiple opportunities to catch them this weekend, what with their show at Mr T’s Bowl on Friday night with One Trick Pony, Seasons, Phoenix and the Turtle, and Death House Chaplain; The Eagle Rock Music Fesitval on Saturday night, where they’ll be playing for free along with Princeton, Bodies of Water, The Pity Party, and many more; and the Benefit For Izabel Vega on Sunday at Safari Sam’s with such acts as The Hectors, I Make This Sound, and Aaron from Le Switch.
