Rock Against HD: The Aftermath

I'd really like to personally thank all of the fantastic acts who performed on Monday night at the Rock Against HD Benefit Show at Safari Sam's: James Patrick from Buffalo Roam, Sarah Negahdari from The Happy Hollows, The Spires, The Western States Motel, Thailand, and The Movies.

I'd also like to thank everyone who attended for their generosity, the folks at Safari Sam's for graciously hosting the event, Ryan Wilson from Division Day for his excellent DJ skills, everyone who helped put it on and spread the word about it, and photographer Laura Jennings for her fantastic pics.

My high school friend Joe Eddy is the man behind Rock Against HD, which is an annual event that he put together to raise funds for Huntington's Disease research and to honor the memory of two cousins who were lost to it.

The disease is explained as, "an inherited neurodegenerative brain disorder that slowly robs the affected individual of the ability to walk, think, talk and reason. Over a 10-15 year period, the individual with HD becomes totally dependent on others for his or her care. Huntington's Disease profoundly affects the lives of both the affected individual and his/her family. At present, there is no effective treatment [Note: It looks promising that the FDA may approve one soon.] and no cure. Each child of a parent with the HD gene has a 50 percent chance of inheriting it. Everyone who carries the gene will develop the disease if they live long enough. HD does not skip generations."

For more information, please visit The Huntington's Disease Society Of America web-site. And again, thanks for everyone's help.

And here's that link again to the piece we posted with MP3s for all of the bands who played the night, in case you missed it.
